Happy Tuesday! Today we talked about California and we chose three topics: earthquakes, The Gold Rush, and movie stars!

As always, you can find fun facts for kids on the National Geographic Site. We had fun listening to all the State Bird songs while we studied the states, too.

Jaxson did a coloring sheet. You can find basic State coloring pages by Crayola here but we used the cute ones I found here.

Jaxson predicted what would happen to the salt and the rice when we tapped the pan with a spoon to simulate an earthquake.

Ella Mae had fun making an earthquake too!

We made a red volcano in a jar and it was so cool we did a blue one too.

We “panned” for gold and “mined” for gold, then spent our money at the trading post.

We tried sarsparilla (apple juice) and we watched Scooby-Doo and the Miner 49er We walked the red carpet and sang “Clementine”.

California Day was September 29, 2020
